Paul Gerard Hutchins born September 11, 1956 in Baltimore, MD
Interested in drawing and painting at an early age, I took inspiration from my father Paul H. Hutchins, Jr., who was The Baltimore Sunpapers’ premier photographer in the 1960s and 70s.Spent much of that era poring through Marvel and DC Comics, MAD Magazine, Hot Rod, Car Toons, Zap, Heavy Metal and other Sci-Fi.Soon after influenced by the style of painters and illustrators like Church, Bierstadt, Dali, Parrish, Escher, Hildebrandt, Robert Williams, Ed Roth, Ken Eberts, Corbin, Kincade and others.A keen interest in all things vintage; Deco, Kustom Kulture, classic cars & bikes, architecture, industrial design and music. Much of early commercial work was cover art and product/ mechanical illustration for real estate and building trades publications, with a extensive background in printing.Subjects I enjoy doing most now are Cars, Bikes, Dogs, Nature, Buildings and Politics, not necessarily in that order.I design a bi-monthly print magazine called The Car Show & Cruise Guide to help bring together the local car nuts. It is also on web: www.carcruiseguide.org.I can be spotted around town in my hot rod station wagon distributing the Cruise Guide, walking my Shepherd/Husky Noah or riding the backroads on my Triumph Scrambler.
